About Dates-n-Mates
Dates-n-Mates is Scotland’s national dating and friendship charity run by and for adults with a learning disability. Dates-n-Mates has 18 year’s experience of connecting people in Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Aberdeen , Falkirk and Stirling & Clackmannanshire
Our work is underpinned by a human rights-based approach. We believe it is people’s right to live life free of discrimination and to develop friendships and relationships of their choosing, to love and be loved.
Influenced by our members preferences, we organise a wide selection of social events where there are opportunities for new friendships and connections to be created. We facilitate friendship matching, date chaperoning and training workshops. Our workshops aim to enhance our member’s knowledge, confidence and wellbeing.
Each of our Dates-n-Mates branches are led by a small dedicated team. Each regional team includes a Director with lived experience of learning disability. Members and Directors influence the direction of the organisation and the range of opportunities we offer. Our teams are enhanced by the generosity of a small group of volunteers who give freely their time, passion and expertise.
