Human Rights Day 2022

On #HumanRightsDay we are with 158 organisations to say Our Human Rights Act Matters to every single one of us, every single day.

Human Rights Day is on the 10th December each year.

All over the world on Human Rights day, people and countries celebrate the Universal Declaration of human rights.

This declaration is an agreement that governments across the world will look after people’s human rights.

The Human Rights Act is a law that protects our human rights in the United Kingdom.

It is very important. It helps us to all be treated equally and with dignity.

The Government want to take away the Human Rights Act. They want to make a new bill of rights instead. We worry that this will take away people’s rights.

We must protect people’s human rights.

We want a world where powerful people, including politicians, protect our human rights.

It is important we let the Government know that we want to keep the Human Rights Act.

The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and over 150 other organisations (including C-Change and Dates-n-Mates) have signed a letter to the Prime Minister and politicians across the UK.

You can read more about this on the BIHR website here.

The video below outlines what this letter says.
